What is Knight Chase?
Knight Chase is a free online chess-like strategy game played entirely in your browser. Every player controls one knight. You jump in the familiar L shape, but the square behind you falls away—turning each move into both an attack and a change to the board.
Play solo against the computer, share one screen in Hot Seat, or bring two to eight players into an online chase. No download, account, or knowledge of full chess rules is required.
How the board disappears
- Jump. Move your knight two squares one way and one square across.
- Drop. After a normal move, the square you left falls into the void.
- Outlast. Capture a rival or leave them with no legal landing square.
Chess-like, but not chess
Knight Chase borrows the knight’s L-shaped jump and the need to think ahead. There are no pawns or checkmates. Space itself is the opponent: every vanished tile changes which jumps remain possible.

Classic mode is pure movement, capture, and falling tiles. Chaos mode scatters mystery powers across the board—rebuild an escape, crack a tile, shield a knight, swap places, transform, or take a double move.
